Brief History
Siderúrgica Catarinense Limitada - "SICAL"
- was founded in 1970, in the city of Criciúma,
State of Santa Catarina, Brazil.
The company began its activities repairing tractors
and started casting aluminum and bronze in crucible.
In 1972, with view to fulfilling the needs of the many
coal mines in the area, SICAL began to cast iron and
steel in a 800 kg irradiating arc furnace.
Since then SICAL has always been responsive to market
trends and requirements and has thus incorporated new
molding and fettling equipment and techniques into its
regular activities.
In 1986 SICAL replaced its arc melting furnace by an
induction furnace.
Today SICAL's plants comprise an area of 9,000 sq.
meters with 6,970 sq. meters of built area. Our company
produces gray iron, ductile iron, steel and special
alloys. Our monthly production capacity is 250 tons.
